Spiritual direction

Burn out for pastors and leaders is so real. I cannot believe sometimes how exhausting this work is. And when our professional lives are all about spiritual-ing (which is not a word), it can be hard to make connection with God, and our own transformation, a priority. Because really - Sunday comes every. fucking. week. for leaders of churches. And for all of us who are spending our lives loving humans - it seems there’s always a crisis, always something.  It’s why we love the work. But it’s also why we forget ourselves.

Spiritual Direction is such an ideal way of remembering. And of re-membering: bringing back together the parts of ourselves that get shuffled and de-prioritized for the sake of our work, our families, and our calling.

Drawing from the Perennial Tradition, Spiritual Direction is a practice in listening for God in the stories of our lives. The demands on our time and energy can make it really hard to know ourselves and sometimes we need a little help. As a Spiritual Director I’m really a co-listener, a companion to help you silence the noise and truly hear yourself. And in that process, to hear God speaking to you.

There are an infinite number of ways to do this together, depending on what you need. Some of us listen best in silence. Some need movement, or sunshine, or play. God meet us exactly as God made us. Contact me to set up an initial meeting to talk about what you might need, even - and most especially- if you don't really know.
